Thanks so much, campers! You rock! We've finished checking the last stragglers and entered as many email addresses as possible in the column as requested. If you have any additional questions about whether you have earned a free upgrade, you'll need to get in touch with Kristine. We've had a lot of fun during this summer camp, learning as much as we helped you learn. We hope this experience has been a good one for you. Thanks! Linda, Patricia, and Tre
Did not qualify for upgrade
Campers in this section: We really want to thank you for your interest in PBworks. While it's true that you didn't qualify for the free upgrade this time, we'd love it if you would register for a future workshop. Also, please feel free to poke about this wiki in the future if you need information or tips. The site will remain available for a long time. Thanks again!

Ilna, I see that you did the week 1 homework link correctly. Are you having a problem adding your week 2 link?

Since the homework identifier has already been entered, linking is just a tiny bit different than it was when you just clicked on a file to add a link to it. Now you need to select the homework identifier (Week 2, Week 3, etc.) and then select the file to which you want to link. Give it a try. If you have any problems, let us know, okay? :)

You're right, Erin. I probably messed it up. I'm so sorry. Just go ahead and remove the link that's not right, okay? Thanks. :) Linda

For some reason my "find" doesn't work on the wiki pages, at least not internally. I would recommend locating one's personal pages and then starring each of them for easy access. That's a feature I've come to love! :)

What a great tip, David. I frequently have multiple windows open so I can compare what I'm doing with what I'm *supposed* to be doing. :)

Yes. I tried the same process - highlighted the box and tried to add text but I am unable to add the link

Did you remember to click on Edit first? When I was first using the wiki, I forgot that about a dozen times. Also, check to be sure you're logged in. If your email address doesn't show in the upper right corner of the wiki, you won't be able to edit pages. :)
If all else fails, just post the name of your file here, and I'll link it for you. lr

Patrricia is right, Rawia. The number order would change multiple times. We're hoping that by alphabetizing the list of names, it will be easier to find your own. If people are moved from one section to another, it will still be done in alphabetical order.

I would like to say that this has been a very challenging but rewarding learning experience for me and I give complete credit for any of my success to the mentors and my fellow campers. You folks are just AWESOME!! Thanks for all of the fabulous ideas, techniques, and new technologies I've learned about this past two weeks. Very Cool!!

I am having trouble seeing the entire width of the roster. It stops at Homework Week 1 so I can't check to see if I uploaded my homework week 2 correctly. In addition, when I go to edit one of my pages, I only see half the page. I don't know how to get rid of the Insert a Link text that is blocking the page. I had to create another page but then the problem came back. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Lori,
It looks like your Week 2 link is working properly.
Whenever I have problems like you've described, I quit my browser and try it again. If that doesn't work, I try a different browser. If that doesn't work, I restart my computer. In most cases one of the things I mentioned will take care of any gremlins prowling around.
Hope that helps.

I can help with one of your problems, Lori. The roster is wider than the viewing window but there are two ways to deal with that, one at the top and one at the bottom of the page.
At the top, a tiny arrow in the elongated teal Edit tab widens the window by hiding the sidebar until you narrow it again.
At the bottom, a scroll bar will let you horizontally scroll the roster chart to reveal the right hand columns.

I'm sure Teresa will be getting in touch with you, Irina. I saw that you had made a new row and copied the University link into the row that I made for you. I linked all of the homework pages you'd already created (the blank ones) to the proper week. I see the link to the first week's homework has been disabled. Could you please go back and link that to your Week 1 homework page? Thanks.

Hi, Linda!
Thank you for the comment. I tried HW1 and HW2 links to my pages in the Current "Green" Table. It works OK. My HW2 's ready for revision. I will appreciate if you have a look at it.
Cheers

Yep - looks like my link to HW 3 is gone too - it is in the page history though (woohoo!), so I'm relinking my assignment this AM.
Weird,

I've got no idea why they've gone, I went through the page history and copied down any major edits after they disappeared and reverted the page to an earlier version. If folk have made formatting changes that didn't show up when I was comparing versions I won't have been able to copy them, sorry!

Sorry I was offline, everyone. :) I seem to have missed the major crisis. This is an excellent learning opportunity, though. If this ever happens in your own wikis, click on Page History. That brings up a list of each edit that was done on the page. By clicking backward on the list, you can see where a problem occurred and just choose the correct version.
I LOVE Page History. When I'm setting up for classes, I actually create and purposely modify pages so that when class is in session, I can just select a different page edit rather than having to spend time writing additional information. :) Linda

Oh... I forgot to add that you need to click on the date link to see each full page edit. When I tracked back the link problem I discovered that it happened when Ramona saved the page on July 10, 2009 at 4:51:35 pm. This doesn't mean Ramona did something wrong; it's just that's when the problem happened. So... we could have clicked on Genny's edit just before Ramona's and chosen to use that as the current page.
When you're working with students, page history can really be a lifesaver because you can recover a student's work if someone else accidentally overwrites it. :) lr

Hi, I linked my Homework Week 3 page to the college page on Friday. but when I checked yesterday, the link was gone! I couldn't fix it because it took forever to save and the site crashed each time. I did the link today, I wanted to know why the link was gone?
My homework is not checked yet!
Thank you
Tre said

Hi Rawia, I don't know why the link went I'm afraid, we had a problem with the rosta and all of the links disappeared over the weekend, we reverted to an earlier version and it could be that your edit was made after this and I didn't notice it to correct it. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, your box has turned green now so you're marked as having completed the homework.

I would like to join all the happy campers for such a great summer! I learn a lot and hope to put this to a good use. I help nurses from other countries, currently living in the USA to increase their chances of success on the professional exam, NCLEX-RN. This is a life changing event that now will be possible, despite the distance thanks to what I learn here. continue with the good work and may you receive the fruit of your labor.

Graciela,
Are you familiar with the Welcome Back Center (http://welcomebackinitiative.org)? I was an advisor for the SF Center when they were first starting and so happy to support them. It's such a valuable program and kudos to you for helping nurses succeed!

Patricia, isn't this a small world? I belong to an organization call International Bilingual Nurses Program, and the Welcome Back progarm in California is a member of that organization. People around the world (and specially in nursing) are concern with the "Brain Drain" when the "brain waste" is even worse. These programs help nurses return to their chosen profession. Keep up the good work.
